  Voted "Favorite Street Performer 2007" by Minnesota Monthly, Dan's gentle and romantic renditions are heartfelt and enjoyed by all ages.

  Ever wonder what it would be like to step into another time and place? Finn Hall preserves the feel and sounds of the Finnish-American Dance Halls from the late 1800's into the 1950's. They are also known to play a humppa and tango or two. DANCERS WELCOME

  Let the centuries slip away and enjoy this special glimps of music from the Barogue Period performed on freebass accordion by the staff accordionist of the Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra.

  NEAF is proud and honored to present the top in jazz performance by two masters. Minneapolis/St. Paul (Larry) and Chicago area (Mike) are represented in ths jazz "happening" and all of their material is especially created for the NE Accordion Fest.

9:00-11:00 AM Jazz Symposium & Workshop with Mike Alongi from Rockford, Illinois
  Experience jazz from the inside out with this informative and fun presentation on the what and wherefor of one of the most fascinating and pervasive style of music. This event will help any one on any level on any instrument understand how to make their music unique and stylish.
   
11:00AM Workshop Joanna Arnold Darrow from Acme Accordion School, Westmont, New Jersey
  How to choose an accordion that's right for you and practice techniques and tips from adjunct accordion instructor for accordion majors at Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey.
   
Noon Mark Stillman & Francine Roche
  One of the Twin Cities versatile performers, Mark specializes in international ethnic music including French musette, music from both Ireland and Scotland, German (polkas), Cajun and Zydeco, Klezmer, and Eastern European tunes as well as American popular standards and Broadway.
   
1:00 PM Machinery Hill with accordionist: Datta
  Datta (accordion, vocals), Bill Lee (sax, whistles,harp,clarinet, perc),. John Gwin (drums/percussion), Melisa Mathews (violin, fiddle), Steve Zimmerman (guitars, vocals, bit-o-mando, bit-o-banjo)
  A festival favorite! Rock it down, jazz it up and move over for this unique mixture of instruments, sound and styles! DANCERS WELCOME
   
2:00 PM Orkestar Bez Ime (OBI) with accordionist Dee Langley
  Dee Langley (accordion, vocals), Colleen Bertsch (violin, bass, vocals), Katrina Mundinger (clarinet, flute, vocals), Tim Wahl (tambura, brac, guitar, kaval, vocals), Natalie Nowytski (vocals, bass, flute)
  The incomparable Orkestar Bez Ime takes you on a personal tour of Rogaria with music from Armenia, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Hungary, Kosovo (Albania), Macedonia, Moldavia, Romania, Rusyn, Serbia, Sweden and, of course, Rogaria. DANCERS WELCOME
   
3:00 PM Dee Langley (2003 NEAF Award Recipient)
  "Dee has a good balance of classical training with the living tradition of folk music. That is, you can tell she is classically trained, but that training doesn't rein her in -- it just adds to what she can do when she is playing any kind of music." - Blanche, Fubar Omniverse, KFAI
   
4:00 PM Hank Thunander (2002 NEAF Award Recipient)
  NEAF is pleased to present a musician noted for leaving awstruck crowds from his vast repertoire of music. Hank was also inducted into the Polka Hall of Fame in Chisolm, Minnesota in 1993. His performance is guaranteed to be a thrilling event!.

8:00 PM Frode Haltli ***A special performance in association with the Walker Art Center***
  Norwegian composer and accordionist Frode Haltli came up through folk forms, but crossed into jazz and contemporary classical music. His music is reticently beautiful, with lyrical folk-ballads often spliced with improv or minimalist interludes. Wonderful!

11-12:00 PM

Malmberg Heritage Ensemble open rehearsal with guest conductor, Larry Malmberg

  An open rehearsal is a time when an audience is permitted to listen while the ensemble practices. This particular ensemble is comprised of former students of Larry Malmberg. Their repertoire will include Danse des Buffoons and Schubert's Unfinished Symphony.
   
12:00 PM John Scaffeo, Thunder Bay, Ontario CANADA
  NEAF favorite Canadian, eh? This performance is guaranteed to be a most memorable experience with artistic interpretations and excellent technique. John lights up the stage.
   
1:00PM Jerry Minar & Friends (2006 NEAF Award Recipient)
  Jerry brings us to the true sounds of New Prague, Minnesota concertinas. He was one of the organizers of the Czech Country Concertina Marching Band and manufactures Hengel concertinas and is one of the guiding forces of the Czech Area Concertina Club. Guten Tag!
   
2:00 PM NEAF National Accordion Month Ensemble Concert
  Concert includes performances by the Squeez-in Accordion Orchestra (conducted by Wendy Tangen-Foster), the Malmberg Heritage Ensemble (conducted by Larry Malmberg) as well as NEAF guest Joanna Arnold Darrow and more!
   
5:30 PM Pilgrim Lutheran Church, Minneapolis Minnesota/ Grand Finale Pot Luck
  Here is a Minnesota Pot Luck accordion-style! If you are from the Twin Cities, please bring a dish to share with those from out of town. Accordions most welcome, if you bring music to jam on please bring a few extra copies. Party-time and thank you for attending the 10th Anniversary of the NE Accordion Fest!
